Civilian Firearms Training Courses | Phase 1

At LEMS, we offer comprehensive firearms training designed to promote safe, responsible, and confident pistol ownership. Our courses are led by Certified Firearms Instructors, including active and retired Georgia Law Enforcement professionals, ensuring high-quality instruction. Whether you’re a first-time gun owner or looking to enhance your skills, our progressive training phases are tailored for you. Groups interested in scheduling a private class can contact us directly.

Phase 1: Fundamentals of Firearms Safety and Pistol Ownership

Phase 1 is an introductory course that establishes the foundation for responsible pistol ownership. This full-day, 8-hour training includes:

• Classroom Instruction (Morning): Covering Georgia firearms laws, self-defense principles, selecting a carry firearm, and basic shooting techniques.
• Live-Fire Range Exercises (Afternoon): Hands-on practice to build confidence and proficiency.

If you don’t own a handgun, please indicate this during registration, and we’ll arrange a loaner firearm for the training.

Course Requirements

• Participants must be 18 years or older.
• No felony or domestic violence convictions.
• An unloaded handgun in good condition, in one of the following calibers:
  • 9mm
  • .380 Auto
  • .40 S&W
  • .45 ACP
  • .38 Special / .357
  • .22 LR
• Protective gear: Hat and sunglasses.
• Note-taking materials (pen and notebook).
• Class size is limited to 25 students for personalized instruction.
